The Savvy Kitchen Makeover Weekend 2 (Part 1)

When I was decluttering on Weekend #1 (click here for the post) I noticed that I only needed a few items to make what I currently had work.

I wanted a couple of containers to organize the cupboards, some paint brushes and a step ladder would help to get the paint that was in the garage up on the walls and a drop cloth would help SSG’s tendency for um, sloppy painting skills.

I didn’t actually “NEED” that much more stuff when I looked at what I already had and spent some time thinking about how I could make it work.

This was a huge realization for SSG. Because what she would have done BEFORE was think she knew what she needed, go out and spend a bunch of money, come home, look at the mess, get overwhelmed and put the stuff she just bought in the closet.

SSG has some great stuff in her closets.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves.

This is what she bought at Target (not pictured, a $30 step ladder and $12 in curtain rings). Total cost of remaining items $31. SSG had $70 in Target gift cards, so her splurge here was the little $3 green rug that’s folded up within an inch of its life.

This is what the cupboard looked like before.

This is what it looked like after my FREE decluttering and cleaning session:

And this is what it looks like after the containers and one more lazy susan was added. SSG loves lazy susans and maaaaay need to get a couple more ...

Not 100% where I want it yet, but MUCH MUCH better and more usable.

And SSG has (so far) spent $3.

Tomorrow we'll checkity check the paint and Thursday is everything SSG got done this past weekend.

By Friday I imagine you'll be as sick of this project as everyone around me is : )

NO I WON'T! Heh, oops. Was I yelling? I am thrilled for you and very impressed. I recently, (read, about 9 months to a year ago), cleaned out my very most used cabinet with all the spices and baking ingredients in it. One of the best things I have done in a long time, just because I felt like everything is so much more available to me. I mean complete with labeling and the whole thing. Man, did it need it!

If you don't show me the paint color soon and I am going to throw a temper tantrum. Um, patience not a virtue here. Show paint! LOL- Just kidding (sort of).

PS- Love what you did with your cabinets. I forgot to mention that. I was too busy throwing a hissy fit over paint.

ok...i need some lazy susans. how handy are they!?! My mom gave us her old china hutch. it's super grannyish looking but, when you are unemployed, beggars can't be choosers so I'm busy rearranging cupboards and drawers too. I know it's supposed to be spring cleaning but I always think of fresh starts in the fall...right before the holidays, get everything spiffed up.
looking good SSG!
