Watching a movie I watch every fall ...
You've Got Mail
"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."***
I have seen this movie countless times and usually throw it on every fall. To be quite honest, the first time I saw it I wasn't a huge fan. But the more times I see it, I find myself sinking into the details. Like that little polka dot mug with flowers on her desk, or the way she brings a bag of Halloween candy into her cute little book store so she can refill a jar on the counter. And Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox's sweet e-mails back and forth to each other full of small details ...
"Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one. It got on at 42nd, and off at 59th, where, I assume it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake - as almost all hats are."

I loved her bookstore...there use to be one like that here. Then Barnes and Noble ate it for lunch...much like the movie.
Meg Ryan was the best choice for that role, I believe.
I enjoyed that movie. It's been a long time though since I've seen it! I spent my morning at a 12th annual Yard Sale along miles and miles of road. We (my daughter & I) found a few good deals! Hope to share some this week on the blog.
For sure one of my favorite movies. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are a perfect pairing in anything they are in. And she is just adorable, anyway!
One of my favorites...I've seen it a million times. You picked my two favorite quotes.
Hope you are having a good weekend!

i LOVE the bouquet of pencils quote. and i love supplies. but her clothes in this one might be what i love most. the little dress at the end with the sweater is classic.
Meg and Tom to me are the Hepburn and Tracy of our generation. Love this film especially her staff at the bookstore like who would not just love to work there they are all such a hoot.
